Mr. Marvin “Mickey” Lee Goodman, Jr., passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 11 AM Saturday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Don Davis. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home.
Mickey was born January 9, 1950 in Concord to the Marvin L. Goodman and Dot Safrit Goodman, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Concord High School where he was active in athletics. After high school, he attended and graduated from Alverson Draughon Business College. Mickey was hired in the IT Department of Cannon Mills where he met and married Judy Troutman. His tenure at Cannon/Fieldcrest Cannon lasted over 31 years. His career then took him to Owens Corning, Concord Telephone Company (Windstream) and Cabarrus County Transportation Service.
Mickey’s love of athletics and children led to many years of teaching and coaching hundreds of area youth in football, basketball, and baseball. Mickey was proud of, and followed the progress and success of each one.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Judy; sons, Brad and wife Mandy, and Greg and wife Amber; grandchildren, Blake, Camryn, and Lainey; and special loving friends, neighbors, and relatives.
