Marvin “Gene” Walker

June 13, 1935 — August 13, 2019

Marvin Eugene (Gene) Walker, 84, of Concord, passed away at home, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 with his wife, Betty and family by his side.

Gene was born in Casar, North Carolina to the late Marvin Ezell Walker and Blanche Mode Walker.

Gene was a graduate of Casar High School and Les McCrae College after which he attended one year at Clemson College. Gene received his Management Development Certification from the University of South Carolina. Following college, he worked with the N.C. State Highway Department, Concord Police Department and City of Concord as Street Superintendent. Gene retired as plant manager from Concrete Supply Company of Concord after 35 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Irvin Walker; two sons, David Walker and wife, Sheree, Todd Walker and wife, Gretchen; beloved grandchildren, Maegan Walker Parnell and husband, Bobby Parnell , Haley Walker Layton and husband, Tyler Layton, Louise Walker and Miles Walker; great-grandchildren, Ava and Caroline Parnell and Walker Layton. We would like to thank his caregivers Jason, Lisa, Doris (Sissy), Ella, and Jasmine for their love and care.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Wilkinson's Funeral Home from 1pm-3pm. The funeral will follow at 3:00 pm in the Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mark McClamrock officiating. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens Hwy 73 East and Cold Springs Road in Concord, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord ARP Church, 177 Union Street N., Concord, NC 28025.
