Mr. Marshall “Wimp” Winfred Kindley passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home, after a year of declining health.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday at Branchview First Church of God officiated by Rev. Roger Hamilton. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Marshall was born February 6, 1927 in Concord to the late Marshall and Lila Parnell Kindley. He was also preceded in death by one brother and five sisters. He was employed by The Concord Tribune for 43 years, retiring in 1992. Marshall was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Branchview First Church of God.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Fletcher Kindley; daughter, Gina Leslie and husband Robert of Concord; son, Michael Kindley and wife Eun Sil, also of Concord; grandsons, Andrew Leslie of Charlotte, Nathan Leslie of Concord, and 1ST Lt. Ethan Kindley of Fort Stewart, GA; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Geoffrey Rackoff and the Dr.’s and staff at Cabarrus Hospice for their wonderful care.
