MOORESVILLE- Mark William Lentz, 63, went to his heavenly home on May 20, 2023.
A 2pm memorial service will be held Friday, May 26, in the chapel of Wilkinson Funeral Home. The family will greet friends Friday from 1 to 2pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Mark was born on December 11, 1959 in Cabarrus County to Harold William and Ramelle Callicutt Lentz. He spent over 40 years in law enforcement. He worked twenty years with the Kannapolis Police Department and then worked for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety in the probation/parole division. He enjoyed antiquing with his wife. He had a collection of vintage magazines from Life Magazine. The most important things in his life were his wife and daughter.
He was the most loving and caring husband to his wife of 42 years, Patty Shue Lentz. Mark and Patty were engaged on August 3, 1979 and then married on August 3, 1980. Together, they have a daughter, Jessica Lentz Sasser and son-in-law Zachary. His love for Patty and Jessica were always his first and final thought. He was true and loyal husband. He and Patty were known as “The Pink Pair.” The void left behind will be filled with the precious memories of the family of three they made together.
His parting is only temporary as Mark believed in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Mark and Patty were set to fulfill their dream of moving to the beach to live their retirement days relaxing and sharing their common hobbies together. Unfortunately, that dream never materialized and was cut short when cancer died with Mark.
In addition to his wife, Patty and his daughter, Jessica, Mark is survived by sisters-in-law, Myra Bannister and Mona Dudley, friends and former coworkers.
Memorials may be made to a cause dear to Mark’s heart- St Jude Children’s Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
