Mrs. Marjorie Guess Stearns passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at The Landings of Cabarrus.
Her funeral will be held at 1:30PM Thursday at St. James “the Greater” Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Marjorie was born May 28, 1925 in Somerville, MA to the late Richard John Guess and Laura Rogers Guess. She was also preceded in death by husband Walter Stearns, sons Rick and Jim Baker, and brothers Albert and Richard Guess. For many years, she worked as an operator for both New England Telephone and Concord Telephone Companies. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Marjorie was known for her baking of German Chocolate cakes, banana pudding, and her active participation with Square Dancing.
Marjorie is survived by daughters Diane Baker of Concord and Margo Shackleford of Mooresville; grandchildren Lisa Heintz (Brian), Angela Clontz (Steve), Nicole Yow, Chad Yow (Mindy), Brandy Benfield, Chris Baker, Ryan Baker (Bonnie), Laura Love (Boyd), Kaley Baker, Patrick Baker (Taylor), and Kendall Shackelford, great grandchildren Josh Williams (Abby), Brittany Christy, Justin Williams (Kaylee), Jordan Clontz, Jerra Williams, Nathan Yow, MacKenzie Yow, Jessica Clontz, Danielle Curlee, Tyler Vooheis, Jolton Love, Cole Love, Rin Clowers, Weston Baker, Andie Kate Baker, and Colby, Chase Baker, Mikaela Robinson, Ariel Cutshaw, Chloe Cutshaw, Haley Cutshaw; great great grandchildren Ella Harwood, Kol Weatherly, Foster Williams, Reece Williams, Landyn Williams, Maylee Williams, Jaxson Williams, and Branson Watson; niece Cindy Guess, nephew Michael Stearns (Linda), and Michael Guess; as well as great nieces and nephews.
