Marion Meeks

June 16, 1943 — August 30, 2024

Mrs. Marion Griffin Meeks of Concord, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis after years of declining health.

Her funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. David Canfield. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marion was born June 16, 1943 in Concord to the late E.C. Griffin and Retha Thompson Griffin. She was also preceded in death by husband Richard L. Meeks, and son Richard “Ricky” L. Meeks, Jr. Marion retired from Cardinal Logistics Management as payroll manager to give further attention to the failing health of her husband.. She enjoyed crocheting, baking cakes, puzzles, but most of all she loved the Christmas season.

Marion loved the Lord and enjoyed many hours listening to Gaither gospel music, knowing and singing along all the words to every song. She loved her family and friends and each week provided them with the "cake of the week" that she lovingly baked each weekend. She was a master when it came to the beautiful, treasured heirlooms she created in the form of crocheting, such as baby clothes, blankets and even clothing for adults that she showered on friends and family over the course of many years. She hosted many card games for family and friends, which brought her much laughter and happiness, sometimes into the wee hours of the morning. For fun, she got great joy playing the slots at Cherokee Casino, Two Kings and the Big M at Myrtle Beach. She completely transformed her house yearly at Christmas, and took great pleasure in hosting Christmas dinner every year for her family. Her love of family and friends will forever be felt, and we are forever grateful for having had her in our lives.

Many thanks to those who so lovingly helped her these past few years. Thanks to Janice and E.A. Hinson for always being there for her, and for loving and caring for her beloved pet Annie, Tammy Drye, for your help and companionship over the past few years, RD Faggart for assisting in transforming her home into a Christmas wonderland, Jacob Flowers, her ICU nurse at Atrium for his concern, extra patience and heartfelt compassion during the transition to hospice, Emily Cuprzynski with Atrium Palliative Care for her much needed care and emotional support during the difficult, decision making process, and JB Hinson for always being her "Mr. Fix it". A very special thanks to the amazing staff at Tucker Hospice House. Their attention and compassion to her and her family in her last few hours will never, ever be forgotten.

Marion is survived by daughter Debbie Meeks and her best friend J.B. Hinson of Concord, her brother Ron Griffin and wife Sharon of Kannapolis; nephews Mike and Steve Griffin, her cousin most often referred to as "sister" Frances McClannon of Salisbury, her friend Tammy Drye of Kannapolis, most often referred to as her "daughter from another Mother", best friends Janice and EA Hinson of Concord, and Annie her very much loved four-legged baby, along with other extended family members.
