Margaret Whittington

Mrs. Margaret Phillips Whittington, 99, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service to celebrate her remarkable life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Broadus Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Rodney Quesenberry. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will greet friends on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home.

Margaret was born on October 24, 1925 in Rowan Co., NC to the late Gurtha Earnhardt Phillips and William Phillips. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, R.M. Doodlebug" Whittington; sisters, Virginia Eagle, Ruth Meeks, Frances Heilig.

Margaret was a devoted and faithful member of Broadus Church, where she joyfully served in various capacities. Her love and dedication to her church community were a cornerstone of her life. For many years, she worked in sales at the Buffalo Ranch, where she shared her warmth and kindness with all she encountered.

She is survived by her daughters, Rickie Brafford of Concord, Mary Fink of Concord; sons, William B. Heilig of Concord, Richard M. Whittington, Jr. of Concord; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Broadus Church, 59 Green Street SW, Concord, NC 28027.

Margaret's steadfast faith, generous spirit, and devotion to her family and community will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
