Margaret Ann Luna Terrell, 84, of Concord, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at The Landings of Cabarrus.
She was born in Dallas, Texas on March 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Grady Atwell Luna and Velma Lee Lassiter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeddie Mack Terrell, her brother, Thomas Edward Luna, formerly of Dallas, TX and her grandson, Garrett Haley Terrell, formerly of Concord.
Margaret married her brother’s best friend, Mack Terrell, after they came home from the Korean War. Together with her in-laws, they built Terrell’s Nursing Home, the first free standing nursing home in the state of Texas, built specifically for senior care. After starting a family, she became a stay-at-home mother. In 1973, Mack took a job opportunity in Charlotte and the family moved to Concord. After her children started high school, she worked in the Fine Jewelry department at Belk and later at Mitchell’s Tuxedo. She also worked as an executive administrator at Rhom & Haas, a chemical company in University City and for First Baptist’s own, David Wightman, as his office manager at David Wightman Homes.
Margaret had amazing energy and zest for life. She always had an optimistic view. She loved interacting with people and people were drawn to her sweet smile and big laugh. She loved to initiate conversation with strangers while standing in line at the grocery store, or the mall, or just about any other situation. If there was a baby in a restaurant with its parents, she wouldn’t leave until she stopped by their table to meet them and fuss over their adorable child. More than likely at this restaurant, Margaret would have just finished dessert. She had quite the sweet tooth. She never met a bowl of ice cream she didn’t like, but she was partial to Neapolitan.
Margaret was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Concord where over the years, she taught Sunday School and served on just about every committee and ministry. Margaret had a beautiful voice that she raised in song in the church choir and that she used in her later years, recording voice overs at Groundcrew Sound in Charlotte. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and she was deeply devoted to her family. She dedicated her life to her faith and family. She taught us what it means to be a loving spouse, mother, friend, and child of God.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Lee E Terrell (John R Graham) of Wilton Manors, FL, and Jed Tom Terrell (Tanya Hill) of Gastonia; and daughter, Myra Ann Terrell Fogg (James Orville Fogg) of Concord.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, 11:00 AM, at First Baptist Church, Concord. A visitation will follow.
