Ann H. Saunders

Mrs. Lois “Ann” Havnaer Saunders, 73, of Harrisburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm, on Saturday June 25, 2022 at The Chapel at Suite 15 Multiply Church, 280 Concord Pkwy South, Concord, NC 28027 officiated by Rev. Bill Balance. Ann will lie in state from 3-4 pm at Suite 15, with the family greeting friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Sunday June 26, 2022 at Eastview Cemetery, 23 S. Brady Ave, Newton, NC.

Ann was born on January 1, 1949 in Mount Airy, NC to the late Lois Stokes and Charles Elbert Havnaer. She was a graduate of Columbia International University and received a Masters in Counseling from Columbia College which she used to serve others, most recently, by facilitating a grief support group at Multiply Church. In her career, Ann worked as an advocate for children in the foster care system by serving on the SC Foster Care Review Board. She also worked as a caseworker with the SC Employment Security Commission for many years. She had a passion for children which was reflected in their early years of marriage, when Jack and Ann served as foster parents while growing their young family.

Throughout her life, Ann was very dedicated to her faith and volunteered her time to community outreach through her church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren throwing tea parties and creating loving memories. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and exploring with her husband.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jackson “Jack” Luther Saunders; daughters, Lindsey Patton of Harrisburg, Melinda Somerville and husband, Terry of Irmo, SC; sons, John Saunders and wife, Mandy of Lexington, SC, Joshua Saunders of Atlanta; sister, Charlene H. Carpenter and husband, Phil of Conover, NC; grandchildren, William, Daniel, Haley, Hannah and Elizabeth Patton, Jackson and Olivia Somerville, Tate Saunders; 4 nieces and 6 nephews.

Memorials may be made to Multiply Church, 150 Warren C. Coleman Blvd., Concord, NC 28027.
