Mr. Linwood “Woody” Earl Arthur, Jr., 65, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Tom Gibbs, with burial following at New Gilead Reformed Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Woody was born on November 23, 1958, in Charlotte, NC to the late Jean Evelyn Mungo. He was lovingly raised by his late grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Mungo. He is also preceded in death by his son, James Earl Arthur, and his half-brother, David Neil McGinnis; step father James Clyde Love.
A 1975 graduate of North Mecklenburg High School, Woody continued his education at RCCC, CPCC, Wilmington College in Ohio, and earned his Master’s in Seattle, WA. Woody dedicated his life to serving the community through his extensive 42-year career with Fire Rescue/EMS in Concord and Cabarrus County. He held many roles, including Chief of Cabarrus Rescue, Captain of Cold Water Fire Department, Cabarrus County EMS Basic Paramedic, among others. His commitment to public service and safety made a lasting impact on the community he served.
Woody was also a member of Quest Life – Fellowship of the Sword, where he deepened his faith and found clarity, forming an intimate relationship with Christ. This spiritual journey was a significant part of his life, providing him with strength, peace, and purpose.
Woody is survived by his daughters, Shannon Lynn Arthur Jackson and her husband, Caleb, Whitney Roxann Arthur; grandchildren, Bryce and Bentley Jackson, Tatum Posey; brothers, Cecil Thomas “Tommy” Arthur and John A. Hilfirty, Jr.; half-sister, Jean Kelly Pearson.

Woody’s unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his career will always be remembered by those who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
