With heavy hearts we mourn the death, and celebrate the life of Linda Lee Lynch, who passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Linda was born on August 4th, 1937 in Smithfield, NC, to the late Charles and Mary Lou Lee. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles and sisters, Jean Kasman and Shirley Williams, and niece, Carol Ann Lee.
Linda graduated from Smithfield High School and later from Rex School of Nursing in Raleigh, NC. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Lynch, in 1958 and then moved to Concord, NC in 1959. The young couple joined First Baptist Church that same year where they have remained members. Linda worked as a nurse for over 25 years. In her early career, she worked at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital (now Atrium Cabarrus), and then later at Cabarrus Children’s Clinic. She was a favorite nurse among many children with her gentle, caring nature.
Linda was a founding member of the Ladies Golf Association at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, NC. She served as President of the LGA in the early years of the group. She also enjoyed playing tennis and one of her proudest accomplishments was winning the “City Tennis Championship” in high school.
While running a busy household, Linda always found time for fun and festivities with her husband, friends and family. She was a dedicated member of her Bridge Club for over 50 years and enjoyed her lunch outings with her “Party of 10”. She treasured the time spent with her family especially during holidays and family beach trips to ‘The Gray Dolphin’. The house was always packed full of family, food, games, and most of all love.
Linda was known for her contagious smile, bright blue eyes, and endearing personality. She was loved by all and made everyone around her feel special. She enjoyed planting flowers and admiring the fruits of her labor. In the quiet moments of her day, she cherished her time with the Lord and reading her devotions.
Her first love and devotion was to her husband, Jim. They were married for 65 years and were blessed with five children. Alison Golmont (Joel) of Charlotte, NC, Beth Bradley (Mark) of Raleigh, NC, Laurie Riddle (Stephen) of Raleigh, NC, Karen Brewster of Raleigh, NC and Jim Lynch (Mollie) of Concord, NC, nine grandchildren, Blair and Mary Blake Warren, Katie Riddle Zeblo (Michael), Lizzie Riddle Worley (Beau), Maggie Riddle, Grace Riddle, Hudson Brewster, Jay and Lila Lynch, and two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Annie Zeblo. Additionally, Linda is survived by her sister, Ann Huckenbeck (Rich) and brother, David Lee (Joyce) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda often said how thankful she was to have been blessed with a wonderful life full of love, joy and fond memories. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Concord on Monday, July 17 at noon, followed by a Celebration of Life Service to honor Linda at 1:00pm.
