Mrs. Linda Kay Middleton Hampton, age 74, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 with her family by her side.
The family will have a celebration of life service Tuesday, February 2 from 5 to 6 pm at Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She will be laid to rest in a private service at the Salisbury National Cemetery beside her parents.
Linda was born April 20, 1946 in Reading, PA, the only child of the late Air Force Capt. Harry Richard Middleton and Virginia Becker Middleton.
Upon moving to North Carolina in 1982, Linda began her career working at Cabarrus Clinic for Women and then Concord Women’s Specialty. In the mid 1990’s, she and her husband opened one of the first children’s consignment stores in Concord known as 9-Months Plus.
Her love in Christ, her family and fur baby “Bitty” were undeniable. She is the true definition of a fighter and winner in our books. She enjoyed cutting out word circles from the newspapers, watching NCIS, and eating anything sweet. Her husband, Don Hampton, and her were married for 30 years and devoted every second of their lives to each other. From numerous breakfast runs, to endless laughs, they had a love that ran as deep and wide as the ocean. To her close family she was known as Oma derived from Pennsylvania Dutch for Grandma. It wasn’t until after her declining health we found a new meaning for Oma, “Oh My Angel". For we know that she will forever be with us; looking down smiling.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Donald L. Hampton; daughters, Cynthia Bostian and husband, Jesse and Angela Rainey and husband, Martin; sons, Brian Hampton and wife, Angela and Joshua Hampton; grandchildren, Sarandan Abernathy Hackney and husband, Trevor, Garrett Egnor and wife, Valarie, Dakota Egnor, Max Rainey, Cassandra Hampton, Abigail Hampton, Wade Hampton, and Emily Hampton; great-granddaughter, Emma Egnor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Processing St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
