Lewis Sherrill

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lewis "Lew" Stone Sherrill, who left us peacefully on December 20, 2024 after a battle with cancer at the age of 68. Born on October 23, 1956, in Cabarrus County to the late L.C. "Tooney" Sherrill and Geraldine Ridenhour Sherrill.

Lew spent his life in the Concord area, where he was a beloved member of the community and an active participant at Rocky River Church, Concord High School Class of 1975 and attended CPCC. Lew was employed by Winn Dixie where he spent many years as the store manager and had retired from USPS.

Lew will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, deep love for his family, and his passions which included enjoying the beach, tending to his yard, and fishing. As a devoted fan of UNC Chapel Hill basketball, he proudly supported the Tar Heels, celebrating every victory with enthusiasm.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Paula Sherrill; his son, Josh Sherrill and wife Hunter; his brother, Mark Sherrill and wife Brenda; brothers-in-law Randy Hill and wife Sylvia, and Mark Hill ; his cherished niece, Lauren Hill and many cousins. Lew touched the lives of many and will be profoundly missed.

Mr. Sherrill was predeceased by his Grandparents Lewis and Gertrude Crowell Ridenhour, Paternal Grandparents Stonewall Jackson and Pauline Sullivan Sherrill, and sister Jane Sherrill.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Rocky River Church, 886 Pitts School Rd in Concord, with the funeral service following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jimmy Britt officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Rocky River Church at 887 Pitts School Rd, Concord, NC 28027, Hospice of Cabarrus County at 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 in Lewis's memory.

His warmth, kindness, and love will remain in our hearts forever.
