Pete was born July 12, 1928 in Charlotte, NC, then moved to Albemarle as a young child in 1937. Later Mr. Peck moved to Shelby in 1950. In 1957 he, his wife Sara, the twin boys moved to Concord, where he resided until his death. He was a 1949 graduate of Wake Forest College, and attended The University of North Carolina for graduate school. Pete was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Purdue Fredrick for 40 years, where he won many awards and trips. He was an avid golfer as a member of The Cabarrus Country Club. The love of travel engulfed Pete and Sara, as they visited his sisters, aunts, and uncles across the state of NC. Pete and Sara and their daughter Sallie enjoyed many cruises through the years.
Despite his age, Mr. Peck was very independent, and active around the community. He was a member of The ROMEO’s (Retired Old Men Eating Out). The group met once a week to enjoy great fellowship and many fun stories from each. You would find him at Troutman’s Bar-B-Que on Church Street at least three times a week. A small group of other friends would meet at Carolina Mall on Monday mornings, and he couldn’t wait until Friday at noon to attend Forest Hill Methodist Church for his weekly hotdog and banana pudding. He adored his TV shows MASH, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Andy Griffith Show, as he enjoyed smoking his pipe, and of course his cat Deacon in his lap. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church.
Pete was an avid football fan of his alma mater Wake Forest Demon Deacon’s, as well as a fan of The Carolina Panthers.
Pete is preceded in death by his mother Irene Taylor Peck, father Lewis Bernard Peck Sr., sisters Nancy Peck Conner of Gastonia, NC., Irene Peck Jordan of Sanford, NC., wife Sara Bost Peck of Concord, sons Lewis Bernard Peck III, and Julius Gray Peck both of Concord.
