Mr. Lewis R. Kepley, Jr. “Bub”, 81, of Concord, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dr. Steve Ayers, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 am prior to the service.
Bub was born on August 26, 1941 in Concord, NC to the late Edna Mauldin Kepley and L.R. Kepley, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger Camaline Kepley; son, Christopher Bartley Kepley; best friend, Gene Isenhour.
Bub played football and ran track at Concord High School then attended Charlotte College where he was a member of the Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity. He then went to join the Army during the Vietnam Conflict and remained in the reserves for 23 years. He was a Sr. Drill Sergeant, expert marksman on the rifle team of the 108th Division, 485th Regiment, 3rd Brigade. He was a Past Master of the 720 Mason Lodge, a member at the Oasis Temple-Past Masters Unit, Scottish Rites, American Legion Post #51.
His late daughter, Ginger, was the apple of his eye, and his wife, Elaine, was his rock. He loved the Lord and raised a god-fearing family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine McMurry Kepley; sisters, Winifred Kepley Ballard, Kathy Lee Kepley Sides; nephews, Andrew Ross Sides, Charles Dean Ballard; nieces, Patrice Lynn Ballard; special aunt, Ann Mauldin Kepley.
