Laura Loreene Faggart Weddington, of Concord, NC, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, after a brief illness.
Native to Cabarrus County, Loreene was born September 2, 1920 to Felty Fisher and Edna Sells Faggart. She was married to Brandon Lee Weddington, who, in addition to her son, Samuel Crosby Weddington, preceded her in death.
A member of McKinnon Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years, she served as Sunday school teacher, president of Presbyterian women, circle leader, a deacon and on the Board of Elders.
She loved gardening, sewing, reading, basketry, doll making, church friends, and most of all, her family.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Wilkinson Funeral Home, followed by services, officiated by the Rev. Bryan Hovey at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jeanne Weddington Guest of Greenville, SC, Penny Weddington Barrier (Frank) of Concord, and Linda Weddington Helms Thompson (Bob) of Concord; eight grandchildren, Dr. Keith Guest of Beaufort, SC, Brandon Lee Guest of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Russell Guest of Taylors, SC, Brandon Barrier of Kannapolis, Mark Barrier of Concord, Dr. Jeffrey Helms of Plymouth, MI, Lana King of Fredericksburg, VA, and Sean Weddington of Charlotte, NC.
She is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
