CONCORD- Lana June Dalton, 72 passed away at Pruitthealth on July 29 2019.
Her funeral service is 12pm Thursday at Wilkinson Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Paul Saleeby will officiate. Burial will follow in Huntersville at Independence Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to noon prior to the service.
Lana was born in Henderson County, NC on January 23, 1947. After graduating from East Henderson High School she earned her Bachelor’s from Western Carolina University and obtained her Masters Degree from Appalachian State University. She then began a teaching career that spanned over three decades in Cabarrus County. She had a passion for teaching special education and did so at Odell, Long, Hartsell, and J.N Fries. She put her family above all else. They were all special to her. She loved to cook and was a GREAT cook. Lana was a seasoned traveler from her adventures that took her all over the globe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward “Bud” and Betty Thompson Dalton, and brother, Franklin L. Dalton.
Miss Dalton is survived by her sisters, Rhoda Locklear and husband Gary of Monroe, Diana Camp of Brooklyn NY, and Sherry Plummer and husband Ron of Mooresville; brothers, Elwin Dalton, Strick Dalton and wife Susan, and Olin Dalton and wife Melvia, all of Concord; sister-in-law, Joanie Dalton of Concord; longtime best friend, Sue Farley and husband Sam; six nieces; six nephews; and multiple great nieces and nephews.
