Lalla Faye Goodnight, 94, of Concord, NC passed away on November 3, 2017 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC with her family by her side.
A graveside service will be held 3pm, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
She was born Lalla Faye Goodman on July 11, 1923, a daughter of the Late Franklin Stafford Goodman Sr. and Emma Louise (King) Goodman of the Poplar Tent Community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey W. Goodnight in 1986; a brother, Franklin Stafford Goodman Jr.; sister, Minnie Lou McCorkle; and granddaughter, Holly Young Mann.
Mrs. Goodnight was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family for all her years. She helped her husband on the farm in the 40’s and 50’s, and in her youth, she filled in as pianist for Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church, as she mostly played in the home during the evenings.
Faye is survived by her children, Dianne Palmer, Janis Young (Ken), William "Bill” Goodnight (Melanie), Pam Barker (Bruce); grandchildren, Chuck Wasson, Kimberley Young, Rheanna McKnight, Alayne McKnight; and great grandchild, Elijah Young; sister, Winifred Hall and numerous nieces and nephews.
