Kermit Marshall

February 10, 1936 — July 29, 2023

Mr. Kermit Harold Marshall, age 87 of Concord, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Haven in Highland Creek.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2 pm with Pastor Phillip Long officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Kermit was born February 10, 1936 in Russell County, VA, and was the son of Virdia Marshall Salyer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois McConnell Marshall, daughter, Cathy West, granddaughter, Sheyenne Marshall, and brothers, Wayne, Bobby, Jimmy, and Thurmond Salyer.

Kermit retired as Vice President from Harrison-Wright Construction Company. He was a proud Army veteran, a Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed working in his garden, traveling, and was a NASCAR and football fan. He also loved to light up his house at Christmas for all to enjoy. Kermit loved spending time with his family and telling some of the best stories ever. He was such a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend to so many, and he will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Susan Jackson and husband, Charlie of Columbia, SC, Dreana Jackson and husband, John of Lexington, SC, Nancy Poplin and husband, Mark of Locust, NC, and Kenny Marshall and wife, Leta of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Traci Burden and husband, Jerry, Ben Allen and wife, Victoria, Tommy Howell and wife, Salinda, Holly Rupert and husband, Ben, Garrett West and fiancée, Chesney, and Montana Poe and husband, Garrett; great-grandchildren, Madison and Sarah Burden, Emma and Ansley Rupert, Gabby and Ashley-Kae Howell, Vivian and Beckham Allen, and Raegan Poe; siblings, Shirley Collins, Betty Stallard, MaryRuth Jordan, Irene Owens, Jean Horne and JoAnn Newsome, Billy Salyer, Charlie, Jimmy, and Billy Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa FL 33607.
