Kenneth Eugene “Ken” Yelton, 65, passed away on February 3, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tiffany, and three children, Bradley (Shelli) Yelton, Jennifer Yelton (Brandon), and Heather (Jordan) Hamilton, granddaughters Rylee Yelton and Madison Hamilton, sisters Agnes Vaglio and Dianne (Glenn) Kinard, four nephews Jonathan, Chris and Matthew Kinard and Andrew Vaglio.
Ken was born in Concord on November 10, 1959. He was the son of Clarence Eugene and Ola Janelle Yelton. He was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Concord High School where he played basketball for the Concord Spiders and played the saxophone in the jazz band. Ken was a proud 1983 graduate of Wingate University where he majored in Business Administration. He served the university in many ways as an alumni including serving on the Board of Trustees, the Board of Visitors and the Alumni Board.
He retired in December of 2024 as Market President of Uwharrie Bank. He enjoyed a 42 year career in banking where his friends became customers and his customers became friends.
Ken was a highly regarded community leader having served as chairman of the Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce, United Way board chairman and 1993 Campaign chair. He served on boards for many other civic and community organizations over his long career. He was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church and was especially active in the choir which held a special place in his heart.
Ken’s biggest passion in life and his source of tremendous pride and joy was his family. Ken enjoyed traveling with his wife Tiffany, countless trips to Sullivan’s Island, family RV trips and quiet weekends watching the sunset on Lake Tillery. Ken will be greatly missed by his family. They will cherish his loving nature, his kindness, generosity, unwavering support and unconditional love.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Central United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Tom Latimer and Rev. Andy Langford. The family will greet friends after the service in the Coltrane Memorial Room.
