Kenneth Ray Kennedy

April 29, 1927 — April 20, 2016

Mr. Kenneth Ray Kennedy, age 88 passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24 at Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3:30. Pastor Tamara Wensil will officiate. Burial with military honors by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at Carolina Memorial Park.

Mr. Kennedy was born April 29, 1927 in Cabarrus County, son of the late George F. and Bertha Foster Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen H. Kennedy and brothers, Everett (Bill), Jim and Caryle Kennedy.

Ken proudly served our country in the US Army during WWII. He retired as an engineer from WEGO Radio Station in Concord and was a longtime member of the NRA. Ken was a faithful member of Rocky Ridge UMC. He was involved in the hot dog sale and various other functions of the church. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend who will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughters, Janet Howell and husband, Michael of Millers Creek, Paula McCachren and husband, Norman of Harrisburg, Lisa Howell and husband, Vance of Concord; grandchildren, Bryan McCachren and wife, Casey, Zackery McCachren, Jason Howell and wife, Meredith, Sarah and Anna Howell; great-grandchildren, Mason, Mac and Kiptynn McCachren, Lena and Lillian Howell; sister, Jerri Furr; brothers, John Kennedy and wife, Barbara, Manuel Kennedy and wife, Barbara and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the staff at CMC-Northeast and Tucker Hospice House for the excellent care they gave Mr. Kennedy. Also, thank you to the nieces and nephews who have been there to give comfort and support to the family.
