Kenneth Raymond Hyme, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Kenneth was a man of unwavering passion and dedication. His perfectionism was not just a trait but a way of life as evident in his life-long career as a diesel mechanic. He retired as a heavy equipment training director from Linder Industrial Machinery Company after receiving numerous accolades including being a Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist via the International Fluid Power Society. As his family fondly put it, "If you looked up the definition of perfectionist in the dictionary, you would simply see his name."
Kenneth's marriage was a love story for the ages. He and his "Sweetie" of 44 years Colleen, whom he met at work, built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. Together, they raised a family that was always at the heart of everything he did.
Kenneth was family-oriented to his core, always ready to lend a helping hand and share his wisdom with those who sought his guidance. He was a man who thrived on debate, ready to discuss any topic with his sharp analytical mind. Kenneth's drive for knowledge and understanding was matched only by his determination to achieve excellence in every endeavor.
An avid car enthusiast, Kenneth's love for automobiles was evident in his custom garage-a space where his passion and creativity came to life. Kenneth had an unwavering love for racing cars and an insatiable 'need for speed,' which brought him immense joy and excitement throughout his life.
In recent years, Kenneth faced a battle with prostate cancer with the same courage and resilience that defined his life. For four years, he fought bravely, never allowing the illness to dampen his spirit or his commitment to his loved ones.
His family and friends will forever remember his generous heart, sharp wit, and unyielding devotion to those he held dear. Kenneth leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and inspiration. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond A. and Mary Louise Hyme. He is survived by his wife Colleen Hyme, brothers and sisters Marie (Michael) Whitehead, Martha (James, dec.) Skeeles, MaryAnn (Dan) Richards, Marlene (Charles Rush) Hyme, Janet (Ken) Householder, Mark Hyme and Steve (Angela) Hyme, son Kevin (Melissa) Hyme, daughter Patricia (Andy) Erp, granddaughters Briana Jones and Kayla (Corey Hall) Hyme.
A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held at Sloan Lake Community Church, 140 Glory Rd, China Grove, NC,28023 on Friday, January 17th at 2pm followed by a bereavement meal.
