Mrs. Judith Carol “Judy” Stamey Bauguess, age 73, formerly of Charlotte, passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2017 at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, after a short illness.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Monday, February 27, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, (formerly Harwood Lane Baptist Church) in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 with Pastor Jack Homesley officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
Judy was born April 2, 1943 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late Edgar and Ola Mae Kelly Stamey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth T. Bauguess; a sister, Shirley Lackey and a brother, Gene Stamey.
Judy spent much of her career in the public school system, working at Tryon Hills Elementary School. She then worked at Sunshine Station Child Development in Indian Trail. She won the “Teacher of the Year Award”, which she was so proud of. Children were her passion and Judy always saw to their needs and those of others before herself. She enjoyed reading and just spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Shannon Black; sons, Kirk, Kent and wife, Lisa and Pat Bauguess; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Stamey and wife, Eva; sister-in-law, Peggy Stamey; brother-in-law, Boyd Bauguess and wife, Joyce, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
