Born April 6, 1937 in Kansas City, Joyce grew up in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Millard C. Rossean and Vera Swansey Rossean Leathers. After completing her education, Joyce joined Eastern Airlines, serving 12 years as a flight attendant and VIP hostess in Miami, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. She was most proud of her time with the airline and loved to share stories of her experiences. After her time at Eastern, Joyce moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and married C. George Henderson, sharing 30 happy years with him until his death in 2000.
While living in Charlotte, Joyce completed interior design and art courses a Central Piedmont Community College and worked briefly as a professional designer. After George retired, Joyce put her skills to work, designing and decorating a beautiful retirement home for them in York, South Carolina.
After George's death, Joyce reconnected with an old friend, James Puckett, who had also recently lost a spouse. From that friendship a second, happy marriage was realized, when she and Jim married on April 15, 2002.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, C. George Henderson of York, South Carolina (formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina); a step-son, Chuck Scott-Henderson (Debbie) of Mount Desert, Maine; a step-daughter, Marjorie Henderson of Deming, New Mexico; a brother-in-law, Richard Garrison of Strafford, Missouri; and two nephews, Bruce Garrison and Richard Garrison, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, James G. Puckett; a sister, Janice Garrison of Strafford, Missouri; three step-daughters, Mitzi Stewart (Robert Kinsley) of Blackstock, South Carolina, Jamie Puckett-Lee (Michael) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Lydia Armenta (Armando) of Prescott, Arizona; a niece, Cathe Hastings (Randy) of Ozark, Missouri, and a nephew, Michael Garrison, of Springfield, Missouri.
