Joseph Urbanski

December 30, 1961 — October 7, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Joseph "Joe" William Urbanski on October 7, 2023, at the age of 61. Joe, a dedicated father and beloved friend, left us far too soon. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at All Saints Episcopal Church, officiated by Rev. Nancy Cox. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Wilkinson Funeral Home. After the funeral service, guests are welcome to gather in the church Living Room to share stories and memories in celebration of Joe's vibrant life.

Joe was born on December 30, 1961, in Toledo, OH, to the late Eleanor Wineman Urbanski and Eugene "Gene" Urbanski. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marsha Lynch and Vickie Lynch.

A graduate of the University of Toledo, Joe embarked on a successful career in HVAC. His most significant passion in life was reserved for his two beloved daughters, Amelia Urbanski of Boston, MA, and McKenna Urbanski of San Francisco, CA. He was an immensely proud father, their biggest supporter in every endeavor. His presence will be missed most ardently.

Joe was the wisest and most positive person anyone had the pleasure of knowing. He truly embodied his tagline response, “I’m great, but I’ll get better,” when asked how he was. His jovial nature and witty responses made him a delight to spend time with, and he could foster a connection with any person he came across.

Football held a special place in Joe's heart, and he enthusiastically cheered for the South Carolina Gamecocks, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Penn State Nittany Lions. His love for the game was infectious, bringing joy to those around him. Joe spent each fall catching every game he could.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program at Salisbury-W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Avenue, Salisbury, NC 28144, which supports veterans recovering from addiction. This was a cause very dear to Joe’s heart.

Joe's sudden departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering support for his family will continue to inspire us all. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his loss. His daughters find solace in knowing that he is reunited with his family, and that his bright light will shine on through all those who hold his memory dear.
