Mr. Joseph “Big Joe” Howard Taylor, age 55 passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his parents’ home in Harrisburg.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 3:30 pm at Roberta Baptist Church in Concord, with Pastor Steve Pennington officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 2 to 3:30 pm at the church.
Joe was born September 1, 1962 in Camden, NJ. He was the son of William “Bill” H. Taylor and Mildred “Millie” W. Taylor of Harrisburg. He is also survived by a sister, Kathy Hooks and her husband, Darrell; and numerous relatives and friends.
Joe was an avid NASCAR fan, and he loved his job with the VIP suites securities every race season. Joe also enjoyed his life at the lake, where he could spend time hanging out with his buddies. First and foremost was his dedication to the Lord and his church at Roberta Baptist. Joe was the all American “good guy”. He had a smile that lit up a room, he was a gun collector but would not hurt a flea, and he would be the first to help in a situation if he could. He will certainly be missed beyond measure, but his family will see him again for sure “at the river”.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Roberta Baptist Church, 3301 Roberta Road, Concord, NC 28025 or to a charity of your choice in Joe’s memory.
