Mr. Joseph Winfield St.John, 87, of Concord, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at St. Andrews Living Center, surrounded by his family.
A private family service will be held at Memorial Gardens.
Joseph was born on October 16, 1934 in Baltimore, MD to the late Mae Warfield St.John and Miner St.John. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ardith Potter St.John; brother, James “Jimmy” St.John.
Joe was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict. After the Army, he went right to work with IBM and continued to work there for 35+ years. Joe was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church where he served on the board of Memorial Gardens. He also was a Master Gardener and loved tending to his plants in addition to coin and stamp collecting. Joe was President of the Concord Area Model Railroad Club and always had a passion for trains in general. Joe was also President of both the Friends of Cabarrus County Library and Downtown Historic Preservation Society in Concord.
He is survived by his sons, Evan St.John, Andrew St.John and wife, Betsy; sister, Florence Sherman; grandchildren, Isabela, Mario, and Dominic; companion, Myrna Gaylord; step-grandchildren, Spencer, Megan and husband Thomas Gwinn, and Alexander; step-great-grandson Preston
