Mr. Joseph (Joe) Manuel Menendez, 82, of Concord, formerly of Tampa and Jacksonville, FL passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, surrounded by his family.
Per Joe’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
Joe was born on November 6, 1939 in Tampa, FL to the late Rose Sanchez Menendez and the late Joe Menendez. He is also preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Pamela Sidone Menendez; grandson, Holden Menendez.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Menendez and his wife, Ellen, Mitchell Menendez and his wife, Susan; daughters, Tarah Helms and husband, Tim, Michelle Menendez; sister, Gerry Guerra; grandchildren, Lucy, Jennie, Amy, Makayla, and Josh. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Karen (Don) Bozeman, niece Taryn Bozeman (Frankie) and children Kayla and Blake, and nephew Troy (Jen) Bozeman and sons Cole and Cody.
After graduating from the University of Tampa (1964) and the University of Mississippi (1967), Joe had worked for many years as the Director of HR for Allison Erwin, Cuddy Farms, and Gerdau-Ameristeel. Through his life and career, Joe made many lifelong friends that he kept in touch with daily.
More than anything, Joe loved his family. He was always there for his children through life's ups and downs and always had great advice for each of them. His family loved him for his compassion, consistency, and huge heart. He also had a unique sense of humor that kept everyone laughing even through his final days. He loved telling jokes that he never remembered while his wife rolled her eyes. Joe naturally drew people to him, and he never met a stranger. He also loved fishing, golf, baseball, good food, and YouTube videos. His last wishes were for his family to be happy and to spread love, happiness, and kindness to all.
