Johnny Monroe Wilkinson

July 1, 1950 — March 13, 2018

KANNAPOLIS-Mr. Johnny Monroe Wilkinson of Unity Church Road, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Tony Bradshaw. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 PM Saturday at the church.
Johnny was born July 1, 1950 in Concord to the late Walter “June” Lee Wilkinson, Jr. and Evelyn Yow Wilkinson. He attended Winecoff School and graduated from Concord High School in 1968, where he lettered in football. Johnny retired from Duke Energy as a Nuclear Maintenance Specialist after 39 years. He enjoyed supporting Tar Heel football and basketball along with the Dallas Cowboys. Johnny loved friends and family, especially granddaughter Jamison Elise. He truly enjoyed each and every day of his life.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Debbie Griffith Wilkinson; daughter Kelly Hill and husband Jim of China Grove; granddaughter, Jamison Elise Hill; sister, Carolyn Hatley of Concord; and a number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
