Johnny Whittington

CONCORD- Mr. Johnny Lee Whittington, 62, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his home.

A service to celebrate his life will be 1:00 PM Saturday (8/20/22) at the Universal House of Prayer Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Saturday at the church and again following the service.

Johnny was born October 27, 1959 in Concord to the late Samuel Houston Whittington and Louise Sutton Whittington. He was also preceded in death by sister Tammy Hornbeak. He worked in the construction industry. Music was Johnny’s life. He was the son of a preacher man from concord with a musical gift from God. He began playing gospel music professionally at the age of 15. Johnny wrote many songs that reflected what God had done in his life, he loved serving the lord. He touched many lives through his music and ministering the word of God.

Johnny is survived by children Christina W. Funderburk and husband Richard of Mt. Pleasant, and Aaron Whittington of Concord; grandchildren Kayla Woods, Tyler Woods and wife Ashlyn, Braxton Woods, Samuel Whittington, and Kennedy Whittington; and great granddaughter Daisy Woods. Also surviving are siblings Dwana Moose, and Tony Whittington; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
