John Dickson "Dick" McMillan, Jr.

Mr. John Dickson "Dick" McMillan, Jr., 75, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Kettle Room at Gibson Mill, where they will celebrate Dick's life and legacy.

Dick was born on June 12, 1949, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Lila Galloway McMillan and John Dickson McMillan, Sr.

A proud 1967 graduate of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, Dick continued his education at UNC-Chapel Hill before honorably serving his country in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he built a successful career as a realtor in Concord and surrounding areas, helping countless individuals and families find their homes and creating lasting relationships in the community.

Dick's commitment to service was evident throughout his life. He was an active member of the Cabarrus Rotary Club, participated in delivering Meals on Wheels with his family, and upheld a special tradition of ringing the Salvation Army Bell every Black Friday at Sam's Club alongside his son and grandson.

Family was at the heart of everything Dick did. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren, John Dickson McMillan IV "JD" and Olivia McMillan, and delighted in attending their activities and milestones.

Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Lila Grier Brown McMillan of Concord; his daughter, Lila Grier McMillan, and husband, Josh Sprinkle, of Edgemoor, SC; his son, John Dickson McMillan III "Trey" of Concord; his brother, Robin McMillan, and wife, Donna, of Fort Mill, SC; and his treasured grandchildren, JD and Olivia McMillan.

Dick will be remembered as a kind and generous soul who valued his family, community, and service to others. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
