Ed was born on March 24, 1942, in Concord, NC, to the late Alma Elizabeth Burris McGaha and Lloyd McGaha.
Ed attended Concord High School before serving 6 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. In the 1960s, he dedicated his time as an ambulance driver and member of the Cabarrus Rescue Squad, helping those in need in his community. He enjoyed a long career as a truck driver for several companies, finally retiring from Wesco in Monroe, North Carolina. Ed was also proud to have participated in a pilot program for truck drivers at N.C. State University, an accomplishment that held special meaning to him. He was most proud of his baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 9, 1988 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
A lover of the outdoors, Ed found joy in camping, fishing, and simply being surrounded by nature. His garage was another special place where he spent time watching NASCAR races, football games, and enjoying the company of family and friends. His absolute favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandson Colin McGaha.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Patricia Louise Freeman McGaha of Concord; his only son, John "Travis" McGaha, and wife, Elena Loayza McGaha, of Concord; and his grandson, John "Colin" McGaha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 5200 Rocky River Road, Concord, NC 28025.
Ed will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, dedication to his faith, family, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
