Jimmy Ray Morris, Sr.

Mr. Jimmy Ray Morris, Sr., 80, of Concord, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jim Strickland, with burial to follow at West Concord Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Jimmy was born on August 6, 1944, in Rowan County to the late Leroy Martin Morris and Daisy Bell Upright Morris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Ann Whittington Morris, and sons, Jimmy Morris Jr. and Roger “Dale” Helms.

Jimmy worked for many years at AMP Incorporated, later Tyco Electronics, where he served as a shift foreman, forming many lifelong friendships. His true passion was fishing, always eager to wet a line whenever he had the chance. He also loved traveling with his wife, Becky, to see country music legends, including George Jones and Conway Twitty.

He is survived by his children, Angela Morris Broadway and husband, Alex; Jeffrey Morris; Harold Helms Jr. and wife, Donna; and Christopher L. Helms and wife, Jean; brothers, Jerry Morris and Ronnie Lane Morris and wife, Susie; grandchildren, Michelle Helms Hiller, Phillip Helms, Stephen Love, CJ Helms, and Bradlee Helms; along with a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
