Mr. Jimmie Marvin Ensley, age 86 of Concord, NC passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 27, 2021.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 6 from 10 am to 10:45 am at Pitts Baptist Church. A service will be held at 11am at the church with Rev. Scott Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Jimmie was born February 28, 1935 in Shelby, NC, a son of the late Marvin D. Ensley and Elvaree Lail Ensley. As a youngster, he was raised in Johnson City, TN, where he attended grade school and college.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he proudly served for 4 years. Jimmie retired from Philip Morris after many years of service. He was a member of Pitts Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, Deacon and on various other committees. Jimmie loved gospel music, and he sang in the choir for many years. “Poppie” was also a great Braves fan and watched every game he could.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlin Hayes Ensley. Survivors include his sons, Curtis Ensley and wife, Garet of Concord, and Darrell Ensley and wife, Selena of Yanceyville, NC; grandsons, Connor Ensley, Colton Ensley, Jimmie “Sam” Ensley and Seth Ensley; sisters, Brenda Hammett and Sylvia Smith; several nieces and nephews.
