Mr. Jerry Wayne Loy, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at his residence in Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Tom Latimer. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 1:50 PM in the church parlor prior to the service.
Jerry was born on August 10, 1940, in Burlington, NC, to the late Frances M. Carden Loy and Ralph Morgan Loy. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, of 61 years, Marian Loy, oldest son, Gregory Wayne Loy; brother, John Loy; stepbrother, Carlton Loy; and stepmother, Cordie Loy.
Jerry was a longtime field engineer with National Cash Register (NCR), where he formed lifelong friendships with his co-workers and their families, even spending vacations together. He loved working with his hands and could often be found tinkering in his woodworking shop, crafting stunning pieces such as armoires, end tables, and shelves-there was nothing he couldn't make.
Some of Jerry's happiest moments were spent at the house he and Marian built at Kure Beach, where he enjoyed sailing, boating, and fishing. He also had a passion for fixing up cars, particularly helping his youngest son Todd replace the engine of his 1st car, a 1968 Cougar, and rebuilding the transmission in his oldest son Greg's 1965 Mustang.
He is survived by his youngest son, Steven "Todd" Loy and wife, Renee, of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Caimile Loy, of Cary, NC, and Melissa Loy, of Concord, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Park Rd STE 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
