Mrs. Jean Starnes Troutman passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Five Oaks Manor.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, May 10 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Craig Allen. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30am Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jean was born in Kannapolis on December 18, 1928 to the late W.S. Starnes and Myrtle Tyson Starnes. Besides Kannapolis, Union County was also home during her younger years. She graduated from Cannon High School and was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. After working in the hosiery industry, Jean was the “Coffee Lady” at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by husband, Homer “H.L.” Troutman, whom she shared 58 years of marriage before his death; sister Margie Lazenby (Steve); twin sister, Joyce Eagle (Frank), and her son-in-law, David B. Austin Sr.
Jean is survived by children, Trisha T. Austin, and Barry Troutman (Harriett) all of Concord; grandchildren, Brian Troutman (Liz), Katie Troutman, David B. Austin, Jr., and Britt Austin (Anna); great grandchildren, Graham, Caroline, and Reid Troutman, and Deva, Everett, and Callen Austin, as well as her sister Billie Ann Aponte of Newport, NC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Five Oaks Rehabilitation and Care Center for the love and kindness given to mother and the family during a very difficult time.
