Jane Yelton Goodman, 93, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at Notheast Medical Center. She was born in Gold Hill, North Carolina, on Sept. 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Oliver Yelton and Buna Strider Yelton.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Concord and made desserts for hot dog lunches for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Chaney-Corzine Circle, and participated in many activities including Fun Day and the exercise club. In her younger years, she enjoyed golfing. She loved cheering on her favorite sports teams, especially the Atlanta Braves.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred William Goodman Sr., whom she married on Nov. 7, 1942. She is also preceded in death by a son, Fred William Goodman Jr.; brothers, Robert Yelton and Thomas Yelton; sisters, Catherine Penninger, Martha Cook and Mary Ruth Karacostas; and her beloved cocker spaniel, Julie.
She is survived by a son, Oliver Yelton Goodman, of Concord; a granddaughter, Michelle Goodman, of Huntington, W.Va.; brother, John and Patsy Yelton, of Gold Hill; sisters, Barbara Ridenhour of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Betty Burrage, of Misenheimer; many nieces and nephews; and special friends.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Epworth United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 1-1:45 p.m. at the church before the service. Private burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
