Mr. James Franklin “Scoop” Ussery passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 21, 2024 at his home.
His funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. David Wilson of Wilmar Park Baptist Church where James was a member. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorials Gardens after the service.
James was born January 26, 1971 in Concord to Janie Edwards Ussery and the late Ira Franklin Ussery. He was also preceded in death by brothers Darryl Wayne Edwards and Randy Ussery; grandparents Charles and Irene Edwards, and Estel Simmons. James attended Concord High School and worked for Complete Design and Packaging of Concord. He loved fishing, the Carolina Panthers, NASCAR, and enjoyed hanging out in the “dungeon” with his uncle Charles and friends. His favorite time was spent with his son Dylan. Scoop never met a stranger.
Survivors include his mother, Janie Ussery; son Dylan Ussery; step daughters Brittany Szymanski, Courtney and Hailey Melton; step grandchildren Arrielle, Oaklynn, Kinsley, Dawson and Carter; brother and sisters Lisa Brown (Luther), Wanda Dunlap (Jimmy), Barney Ussery (Chryl), and Darrell Ussery; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
