James Pinkney Morrison, Jr., “Jimmy”, 72 of Concord passed away August 26, 2021.
On Tuesday, August 31st his body will lie in state from 11am-4pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Dr. Stanley Spence will officiate the funeral at 11am Wednesday, September 1st at Kerr Memorial Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at West Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Morrison was born on June 10, 1949 in Cabarrus County to the late James Pinkney “J.P.” Morrison, Sr. and the late Hattie Louise Harrington Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Alisha Dawn Morrison and his sister, Peggy Louise Morrison.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Penninger Morrison, and his children, Jay Morrison (Karen), Mike Morrison (Tracy), and Lindsay Hartman (Greg); along with his pride and joy, 8 grandchildren: Katie, Jake, Ava, Michael and Ayden Morrison and Madison, Patrick, and Sadie Hartman; his siblings, Barbara Myers (Larry), Carol Barbee, and Gary Morrison (Angie); numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Jimmy was in the 1967 first graduating class of Central Cabarrus High School and studied at Central Piedmont Community College after serving our country in the Army during the Vietnam War. His love for cars as a young boy developed into a lifelong passion as he started his own business upon returning from Vietnam.
Morrison Motor Company, Inc has been selling cars across the US and worldwide for the last 50+ years. He was a longtime member of Kerr Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and many other roles in the church. Jimmy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all he met.
