Mr. James “Jimmy” Miller, Jr., 78, of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Providence Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. John Cashwell. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:30 prior to the service at church. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday August 9, 2021 at Eastview Baptist Church Cemetery, 1430 Gordon Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732, officiated by Dr. Larry Doyle.
Due to the current COVID-19 climate, masks and social distancing will be required inside Providence Baptist Church for the visitation and funeral service.
Jimmy was born on October 29, 1942 in York, SC to the late James Miller, Sr. and Mary Ellen Cabaniss Miller. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Alice Faye Miller Carrigan; brothers, William Moore Miller, Allen Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hilda Herndon Miller; daughter, Terri Miller Breslin and husband, John; sons, James D. Miller and wife, Sharon, Randy Miller and wife, Sharon; sister, Susan Griffith; brother, Ray Miller; grandchildren, Annie Sue Miller, Charleigh Faye Miller, Jonathan David Miller and wife, Katie, Joy Hannah Miller, Aaron Robert Breslin, Patrick Miller Breslin.
Jimmy was a Southern Baptist Missionary to Ecuador for over 28 years, where he shaped many lives. From serving as a seminary professor, to president of the seminary, to camp director, mission president, and church planter, Jimmy always strived to put God first and serve to the best of his ability. In retirement, he operated an embroidery business. He enjoyed meeting people, and working with them to create the design to meet their needs. Jimmy enjoyed reading books, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
