Mr. James Reid Jessup, 80, of Concord, entered the Church Triumphant on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
He was born in Julian, NC on May 20, 1942, to the late Albert Hugh and Clara Belle Jessup. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Jessup and Hilda Phillips.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Stephens Jessup; two sons, Brandon Jessup (Stephanie) and Wesley Jessup (Emily) of Harrisburg, NC.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Camden, Chandler, Jimi Raye, Macie and Mollie Jessup as well as his two bonus grandchildren, Carter and Cara Magliocca.
Jimmy was a graduate of Nathanael Greene High School, attended Guilford Technical Institute, and served in the NC Army National Guard as a Military Policeman. He spent most of his working career in the heavy equipment industry and retired from Ditch Witch of Charlotte.
He enjoyed music, especially bluegrass and gospel, and was a devoted choir member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Jimmy also served in many other capacities there earning him an Honorary Life Membership in the North Carolina Lutheran Men.
Family, church, and special gatherings with friends brought him much joy as did working in his yard and attending competitive events for his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Pastor Debbie Frye, will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 950 Bradley Street, Concord, NC 28025 on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Visitation will be held at 1:30 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff at the Levine Cancer Institute-Northeast and Hospice for the excellent care during his illness.
