James Griffith

CONCORD- James Otho “Jimmy” Griffith passed away at Atrium Charlotte on November 28, 2023.

The family will receive friends 12-2pm Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Wilkinson Funeral Home followed by a private graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery.

Jimmy was born in Charlotte on June 18, 1941 to William Edgell (Sr.) and Mary Jane Perry Griffith. He was faithful to God, his family, his church-Parkwood Baptist, and was a friend to all, never meeting a stranger. He has served his church as a Deacon, Sunday School director and teacher, and many service areas and committees.

Jimmy retired from Michelin Tire (Uniroyal-Goodrich) after 30 years. He then worked 10 years for Kumho Tire. He enjoyed part-time jobs at Tire Country, Pageland, SC, and Ben Mynatt Chevrolet in Concord.

He was a veteran of the US Army having served as a Spec 4 of RADCOM missile division.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Oliver and brothers, Thomas Griffith, Robert Griffith, and Johnny Simpson.

Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Drye Griffith; daughter, Amy Melia Griffith; grandson, Lance Hugh Griffith, all of Concord; brother William E. Griffith, Jr of Charlotte; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr., Concord NC 28027 or to the charity of your choice.
