James Avery Grass

A memorial service will be 3:30pm Saturday in the chapel of Wilkinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30pm Saturday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
James was born on August 19, 1931 in Cabarrus County. He is the son of the late Avery Jackson and Inez V. Burris Grass. He retired from Federal Pacific Electric in Albemarle. He was a US Army veteran where he served in the Korean War. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Starnes. Above all else, James was a devoted husband, loving father, and a proud grandfather.
Mr. Grass is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Turner Grass ; daughters, Jamie Grass of Concord and Talisa G. Shipman and husband Mike of China Grove; son, Adrian Grass and wife Samantha of Concord; sister, Audrey Purser and husband Jerry of Wagram; grandchildren, Wesley Simpson, Chad Simpson, Lauren Simpson, and Avery Jo Grass; and numerous nieces and nephews.
