Mr. James Brantley Goodman, age 81, passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at CMC Northeast.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 with Rev. Harold Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Mr. Goodman was born July 25, 1934 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Jack Gilbert Brantley Goodman and Bertie Ann Osborne Goodman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Byers Goodman, a daughter, Carol Stealey, a son, Donnie Bostic and siblings, Peggy Carpenter, Fred and Jr. Goodman.
James retired from Eastern Stainless Steel in Baltimore, MD, giving them 30 years of service. After his retirement, he and Barbara moved back to Concord where they lived for 25 years. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening, along with tinkering on the lawnmower. Like most men, he messed around with cars, always fixing something. James loved babies and he loved to see the grands and great-grands come for a visit.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Goodman of Concord and Diane Becker of Baltimore, MD; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sara Freeman of Concord; brothers, Jerry, Robert and Ray Goodman, all of Concord; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives who, along with the rest of the family, will miss James greatly.
