Mr. James “Jake” Carter Dutch, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12:30 pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 with Pastors Lewis Whittington and Walter Turnmine officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Mike Crowell, Terry Crowell, John Crowell, Mark Crowell, Christian Dutch and Dylan Dutch.
Mr. Dutch was born June 21, 1936 in Marlboro County, SC, a son of the late Henry Hartford Dutch and Viola Lee Rogers Dutch. He was also preceded in death by his siblings.
After graduating from high school, Jake served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. He then enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy in October of 1976. He then worked for Pass and Seymour in receiving until his retirement.
Jake was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochville, where he sang in the choir. He was also a former bass singer for the Genesis Quartet. Later, he became a bass singer for the Gospel Highlighters. In addition to singing for the Lord, Jake enjoyed camping, fishing and all kinds of sports.
Surviving Jake is his loving and caring wife of over 20 years, Glenda Kay Cochran Dutch; children, Todd and Tammy Dutch, Terry, John and Mark Crowell; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; numerous other loving relatives and friends who will miss Jake dearly.
