Mr. James "Jim" Francis Devanney, 84, of Concord, NC, previously of Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, with inurnment following at the St. James Catholic Church Cemetery Columbarium. The family will greet friends from 10:30-11:00 AM prior to the service.
Jim was born on October 19, 1940, in Hartford, CT, to the late Katherine Kennedy Devanney and Thomas William Devanney. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Lee Caron; sisters, Mary London, Dorothy Hensley, Jane Horrox; and brothers, Thomas A. Devanney and Robert W. Devanney.
Jim worked for over 45 years as a machinist at United Technology, a division of Pratt & Whitney, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He enjoyed boating, golfing, and being outdoors. An avid sports fan, Jim loved cheering on the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees, and UConn men's basketball teams. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast, making Concord, NC, the perfect place for him to move.
Jim and his wife, Lorraine, loved traveling and taking cruises together. One of his greatest passions was his Corvettes, ensuring he was always cruising in style.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine Nancy Martineau Devanney; daughter, Donna Lee Berardi and husband, John, of Concord, NC; son, James "Jim" Thomas Devanney and wife, Lindsay, of Avon, CT; son-in-law, Steve Caron, of Tolland, CT; sister, Olive Bonneau, of Manchester, CT; grandchildren, Stephanie B. Morris and husband, Jared, Steven Berardi, Ashley Nan Caron and fiancé, Kevin, Matthew Caron and wife, Taylor, Maddie Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Ellis John Morris, Sennamarina Lorraine Caron, and Theo Jack Caron.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Vicky Williams, Jim's caregiver, who showed so much love and support to the family and always made him smile.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
