Irma Lee Lomax Isley, 90, Of Abernathy Laurel Retirement Center Newton, NC passed away at Catawba Valley Medical Center on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Friday, November 4, 2016, at Forest Hill UMC-Historic Sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Suzanne Dornsmith. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2-3 prior to the service.
Irma was born on June 5, 1926 in Coco Beach, FL to the late Clyde and Mary Ella Cochran Lomax. She is also preceded in death by Buford Isley; son, Roy (Butch) Isley; daughter, Mary Denise Isley Wacaster; sister, Jennie Lomax Cook.
Irma was a Veteran of the US Navy, and very proud of her service. She was also a member of the Red Hats, enjoyed crafts, planting flowers and crocheting. Irma loved to go get her nails and hair fixed at the salon regularly.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Love and husband Mike of Harrisburg, Susan Beam and husband Chuck of Cherryville, Tammy Wacaster Wilkerson of Hickory, Tamara D. Wacaster of Concord; step-son, Billy Isley and wife Martha of China Grove; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
