Mrs. Irene Annette Motley Bratton, 95, of Concord, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
A graveside service was held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Oakwood Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Jim Hood.
Irene was born on April 8, 1929, in Concord, NC, to the late Goldie Belle Love Motley and John James Motley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Franklin Jackson "Jack" Bratton; four sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Harriett B. Troutman and husband, Barry, of Concord; her son, Eric Bratton and wife, Jo Ann, of Concord; her grandchildren, Amanda Bratton (Matt), Brian Troutman (Elizabeth), and Kathryn Troutman (Chip) and her great-grandchildren, Graham, Reid, and Caroline Troutman. Irene also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and special friends, Rita Bratton, Dixie Landreth, and Laura Werner. She was a devoted member of Kerr Street United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served her community by helping with Hot Dog Sales, teaching Children in Sunday School in her younger years and lending her talents wherever needed.
Carolina basketball and football held a special place in Irene's heart, and she rarely missed a chance to watch the games. She also enjoyed spending her time reading, solving word searches, and being outdoors. Christmas was especially dear to her-she loved decorating, celebrating, and creating cherished memories with her family during the holiday season.
Irene will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering faith, and the love she showed to everyone she met.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
