Hubert Lee Cress passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Presbyterian Hospital. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 11 AM Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. A reception will follow for the family to greet friends.
Hubert was born January 25, 1928, in Concord, NC. He was predeceased in death by his beautiful, beloved wife who was his high school sweetheart to whom he was married for 61 years, Margaret Kepley Cress. He was also predeceased by his parents George Brown Cress and Viola Lentz Cress.
Hubert retired as a Regional Sales Manager from the Wm. Wrigley, Jr. Company after 43 years. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. While in Winston Salem, Hubert was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church founded in 1957. He has been a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte for more than 40 years. Hubert was a Master Mason and a Shriner for 60 years.
Survivors are his loving daughters, Teresa Cress Johnson and husband Eric of Charlotte, grandson Nicolaus Cress Johnson; Donna Cress Castles and husband Robert of SC, granddaughters: Brooke Lee Tetrault of Dallas, TX and Caroline Olivia Stokes. Also surviving is Hubert’s cherished sister Ruby Cress Utley of Kannapolis, and numerous special nieces and nephews.
