Howard Hamilton Jr Whittle

January 27, 1925 — September 16, 2016

Mr. Howard Hamilton Whittle, Jr., passed away Friday morning September 16, 2016 at Morningside Assisted Living.

His funeral service will be 3 PM Sunday at Oakwood Cemetery officiated by Rev. Peter Bynum. The family will receive friends 1:30pm until 2:30pm Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.

Howard was born January 27, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Howard H. Whittle and Edith Driver Whittle. He graduated from Concord High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Howard later graduated from Duke University. He retired from Concord Telephone Company as a Vice President of data operations. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, loved playing golf, and being at Lake Norman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Molly Francis Whittle.

Howard is survived by daughter, Kathy Whittle Kluttz of Concord; son, Howard H. Whittle III and wife Rochelle of Cary; grandchildren, Danny Kluttz, Jr. and wife Dawn, Kristy K. Rohr and husband Adrian, Shelby Whittle, and Hamilton Whittle IV; and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144 or to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 789, Concord, NC 28026.
